Director
Carol Nuttall – Managing Director, Solicitor
Carol is the Founder and Head of Adlington Law. With a strong background in litigation, Carol recognised the opportunity to broaden her expertise and retrained in both Private Client and Property Law. This experience ultimately led to the creation of Adlington Law, a firm built on traditional family law firm values while embracing modern technology to deliver an efficient, accessible, and highly personal service to every client.
Carol is a passionate advocate for high professional standards within the legal and equity release sectors. She is a member of the Equity Release Council, a former Chair of the Legal Forum, and currently serves as the legal representative on the Standards Committee. Through these roles, she is committed to promoting best practice across the industry and supporting the continued development of the equity release market.
A particular focus of Carol's work is ensuring that clients, especially those who may be vulnerable, receive the care, support, and advice they need to make informed decisions with confidence. She firmly believes that every client should be treated in the same way we would treat our own families, and this philosophy is at the heart of the culture she has created at Adlington Law. Her commitment to exceptional client care underpins everything the firm does.
Outside of work, Carol enjoys spending time with her three children and her dogs, as well as socialising with family and friends. When time allows, she also loves to travel, with Florida, Dubai, and the Lake District among her favourite destinations.
Senior Management
Alex Price – Operations Director
As the Operations Director at Adlington Law, I oversee and optimise the firm's daily operations. My responsibilities include ensuring that administrative, financial, and operational functions run smoothly, supporting the firm's strategic goals, and enhancing overall efficiency.
By leading various departments and implementing effective policies and procedures, I contribute to the firm's success and maintain high standards of client service. I am adept at implementing and managing legal processes, utilising case systems, and business process engineering. I am skilled in producing and analysing reports for clients.
Additionally, I regularly conduct training sessions for clients, introducers, and the wider equity release industry. I am an active member of the Equity Release Council Legal Forum.
Robert McGonagle – Equity Release Team Leader
Robert has been with the firm since January 2021 and has a background in the armed services. Robert’s military precision shines through in his work, and his respect and attitude towards clients and work colleagues alike have quickly made him a favourite with our clients.
In his spare time, Robert enjoys playing football with our local football team and also spending time with his wife and young daughter.
Michelle Beattie – Head of Administration & Accounts
Michelle joined the company in January 2018, bringing with her valuable management experience from her previous role as a Supervisor at the Post Office.
As the head of our administration and accounts departments, Michelle plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the firm. She is committed to delivering a welcoming and efficient experience for every client, overseeing both the first and final points of contact to ensure the highest standards of service throughout the client journey. Her organisational skills, attention to detail, and approachable manner make her an integral part of the team and help us maintain the excellent client care for which Adlington Law is known.
Michelle is also a qualified First Aider, providing an additional level of support and care within the office.
Outside of work, Michelle is a proud mum to two boys and enjoys keeping fit, reading, and spending time with her family.
Charlotte Greenwood – Team Leader, Property & Private Client
Charlotte is a lead conveyancer at Adlington Law, specialising in residential conveyancing and equity release.
With a background in retail management, Charlotte brings excellent communication, organisational and people skills to her role. She prides herself on making the conveyancing process as straightforward and stress-free as possible, keeping clients informed and supported every step of the way.
Having progressed from paralegal to lead conveyancer, Charlotte also plays an active role in supporting the wider conveyancing team and the day-to-day running of the department. Alongside her role, she is currently working towards her CILEX qualification, continuing to develop her legal knowledge and expertise.
Outside of work, Charlotte enjoys travelling, weekend breaks, theatre trips and spending time with her family, friends, husband and dog.
Equity Release Team / Paralegals
Andrea Newton – Chartered Legal Executive & Equity Release Deputy Team Leader
Andrea joined the firm in September 2021, bringing with her more than two decades of litigation experience gained whilst working alongside Carol and Karen at their previous firm. She began her legal career as a legal typist in 1999 and, through dedication and hard work, qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 2007, reflecting her longstanding commitment to the profession.
As part of our Equity Release Team, Andrea has progressed to the role of Deputy Team Leader. Known for her meticulous attention to detail, practical approach, and strong problem-solving abilities, she provides clients with an exceptional level of service and support. Her extensive experience enables her to handle even the most complex matters with confidence, professionalism, and a solutions-focused mindset. Andrea is committed to delivering practical and effective outcomes while ensuring every client feels supported throughout their journey.
Clients particularly value Andrea's warm and approachable manner, as well as her ability to explain complex legal issues in clear, straightforward terms. She takes the time to ensure clients fully understand their options and the steps she will take to help them achieve their objectives, providing reassurance and confidence at every stage of the process. Combining professionalism with genuine compassion and empathy, Andrea is dedicated to making every client's experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.
Outside of work, Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband, Martin, and their son, Ben. Family life is especially important to her, and they love travelling in their campervan, enjoying countryside walks, and making the most of their time together. Andrea and Martin are also currently undertaking a full renovation of their new home while living with her parents, an exciting project that certainly brings its own challenges.
​Chris Lyon – Solicitor
Chris joined Adlington Law in May 2018 as Equity Release Manager after being Head of Conveyancing in a department of 30 people at a firm on the Wirral, where he had started an equity release department in 2007.
Equity Release had become a passion for Chris, and he relished the chance to join a specialist firm undertaking this work. Chris is proud to have been instrumental in helping Adlington Law become a prominent firm in acting for borrowers in equity release and he continues to promote the high values in client care and technical knowledge that are essential to the firm.
For a few years now Chris has been semi-retired but still works two or three days a week. When not working he enjoys being with his family, watching football and trying to improve his guitar skills.
Rachael Livesey – Technical Lead
Rachael is a highly experienced Conveyancer with over 18 years in the field. She joined Adlington Law in 2017 after taking a well-earned break to focus on raising her young family.
As the technical lead of our paralegal and conveyancing team, Rachael brings outstanding technical knowledge across all areas of conveyancing. She has a real talent for tackling complex matters, including possessory title applications and unregistered land issues, and is often the go-to person for resolving challenges that seem impossible at first glance.
Known for her calm, solution-focused approach and excellent customer care, Rachael is an invaluable and much-appreciated member of the Adlington Law team.
Outside of work, Rachael enjoys running, hiking, reading, and spending her time cheering from the sidelines while her children take part in approximately a hundred different sports (or so it feels!).
Karen Watkinson – Paralegal
Karen joined the firm in May 2021, having previously worked alongside Carol several years earlier. Her exceptional attention to detail and strong work ethic have established her as a highly valued member of the Equity Release team. Karen’s warm and friendly nature helps put clients at ease, while her efficiency and professionalism inspire confidence in both clients and financial advisers alike.
The extensive knowledge and experience Karen has developed enable her to handle even the most complex matters with confidence. Over the past 12 months, she has dedicated additional time to further developing her technical expertise, allowing her to manage increasingly complex issues while continuing to deliver outstanding service to every client. Her willingness to share her knowledge and support colleagues also makes her a valuable resource within the team.
Outside of work, Karen is a devoted wife, mother to three daughters, and proud grandmother to a granddaughter, all of whom keep her busy and ensure there is never a dull moment at home.
Sam Higginson – Paralegal
Sam joined Adlington Law in November 2018 and has built an extensive career in the legal sector since leaving school in 2001. Throughout her career, she has gained experience across a range of practice areas, including criminal law, personal injury, and road traffic accident claims.
Known for her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to exceptional client care, Sam has earned praise from both clients and financial advisers alike. Her approachable manner, professionalism, and dedication to achieving the best outcomes ensure that clients feel supported and confident throughout the legal process.
Outside of work, Sam enjoys spending quality time with her young family, travelling, and maintaining an active lifestyle through fitness and exercise.
Jake Challender – Paralegal
Jake first joined the firm in November 2017, shortly after completing college. Beginning his career in an administrative role, he quickly demonstrated his ability and commitment, progressing into a junior position within the Equity Release team. As his knowledge and expertise developed, Jake established himself as a trusted and highly respected member of the team, building strong relationships with financial advisers, third-party solicitors, and clients alike.
Alongside his professional development, Jake successfully completed a degree in Sports and Physical Education, demonstrating his dedication, determination, and ability to balance academic study with a full-time career. His continued growth and commitment to learning have contributed significantly to the expertise and experience he brings to his role today.
Known for his warm personality, engaging sense of humour, and strong work ethic, Jake is valued not only for his professionalism but also for the positive energy and enthusiasm he brings to the workplace. After leaving the firm in March 2023 to pursue new opportunities, he returned briefly between October and December 2024 before embarking on a year of travel. In January 2026, Jake rejoined the team and is delighted to be back, continuing to contribute his experience, knowledge, and passion to the firm.
Outside of work, Jake loves walking with his dog, Poppy and is a passionate Bolton Wanderers supporter and can often be found following his team at both home and away matches throughout the season.
Leo Mackintosh – Paralegal
Leo joined the firm in 2024 in a junior role within the Equity Release team. From the outset, his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and eagerness to learn quickly established him as a valued member of the team. Recognising his potential, the firm has supported his ongoing professional development and encouraged him to take the next steps in advancing his career.
Alongside managing his own files and delivering an excellent standard of client service, Leo has begun his journey towards professional qualification within the firm. His calm and approachable manner helps put clients at ease, while his ability to guide them through often complex and challenging situations ensures they feel supported throughout the process. Combining professionalism with a client-focused approach, Leo is dedicated to helping clients achieve their goals as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Outside of work, Leo plays semi-professional football for a local team, demonstrating the same commitment, discipline, and teamwork that he brings to his role within the firm.
Jessica Nuttall – Paralegal
Jess joined the firm straight from school at the age of 16 as a Business Administration Apprentice. Demonstrating dedication and determination from the outset, she successfully completed her apprenticeship with a distinction and quickly became a valued member of the team.
After spending two and a half years in the Administration Department, Jess naturally progressed into the Equity Release team, where she has continued to excel. Her willingness to learn, positive attitude, and tenacious work ethic have enabled her to develop into a confident and capable file handler. Recognising her potential and ambition, Jess is now preparing to take the first steps towards her legal qualifications as she continues to build her career within the firm.
Jess's naturally caring and compassionate personality shines through in every client interaction. Combined with her impeccable attention to detail and commitment to delivering the highest standards of service, she ensures that clients feel supported and well looked after throughout their journey.

Kai Sharrock – Paralegal
Kai joined the firm in 2024 and quickly established himself as a valued member of the Equity Release team. His strong work ethic, enthusiasm, and commitment to delivering excellent client service have enabled him to build positive relationships with clients, advisers, and colleagues alike. Recognised for both his professional approach and willingness to learn, Kai continues to develop his knowledge and skills while providing a high standard of support throughout the legal process.
A naturally likeable character with a cheeky sense of humour, Kai has a unique ability to put clients at ease from the outset. His friendly and approachable manner, combined with his professionalism and attention to detail, helps clients feel confident and supported, even when navigating complex or potentially stressful transactions.
Within the office, Kai is also well known for bringing a healthy dose of mischief and laughter to the team, helping to create a positive and enjoyable working environment for colleagues and clients alike.
Outside of work, Kai previously played semi-professional football before recently hanging up his boots. These days, he enjoys spending quality time with his girlfriend and family, making the most of time together away from the office.
Lisa Stanton – Paralegal
Lisa joined the firm in 2025, bringing with her a wealth of experience gained over more than a decade at one of the country's leading equity release law firms. Her extensive knowledge of the sector, combined with her friendly and professional approach, enables her to provide exceptional service to both clients and financial advisers alike.
With expertise in handling even the most complex cases, Lisa is committed to delivering clear guidance, practical solutions, and outstanding client care throughout every transaction. Her attention to detail and depth of experience make her a trusted and valued member of the team.

Nicola Blakemore – Paralegal
Nicola joined Adlington Law in January 2025, bringing with her many years of specialist experience within the equity release sector. Having built a strong reputation for providing outstanding client care and support, she quickly became a valued member of the team. After spending a rewarding year working in equity release, Nicola made the move into the conveyancing department to pursue her long-standing passion for property law and helping clients navigate important milestones in their lives.
Known for her organised approach, attention to detail, and genuine commitment to client service, Nicola takes great pride in ensuring every client feels supported and informed throughout their legal journey. Her friendly and approachable nature, combined with her dedication to achieving the best possible outcomes, makes her a trusted point of contact for both clients and colleagues alike.

Private Client Team
Megan Hurst – Solicitor, Junior Partner
Megan joined Adlington Law in August 2017 and qualified as a solicitor in January 2022. Megan works within the equity release team and also completes private client work, including wills, lasting powers of attorney and probate work for clients. She also assists with the firm’s personal injury work.
Megan prides herself on her customer care, approachability and attention to detail.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys visiting theme parks and going for walks with her dogs.
Zahra Fiyaz – Trainee Solicitor
Zahra is a Trainee Solicitor who is passionate about qualifying and continuing to develop a successful legal career. Before joining the firm, she worked within the probation service at the Crown Court, where she gained valuable experience in the criminal justice system and developed a strong appreciation for supporting individuals through challenging circumstances.
She enjoys building relationships with clients and helping them navigate legal issues in a friendly and approachable manner. In addition, she is one of the firm's first aiders and is always happy to lend a helping hand when needed.
Outside of work, she enjoys going for walks and making the most of the outdoors.
Isobel Davies – Paralegal
Isobel joined the firm in 2025 as a member of the Administration Team, where she quickly distinguished herself through her efficiency, attention to detail, and commitment to excellent client service. Developing strong client care skills from the outset, she soon became a valued and dependable member of the team, earning a reputation as someone colleagues and clients could rely upon.
Recognising her dedication, caring nature, and potential, Isobel was offered the opportunity to undertake a CILEX apprenticeship and begin her legal qualifications. She subsequently joined the Private Client team, initially providing administrative support before progressing into her own fee-earning role.
Since then, Isobel has demonstrated an impressive ability to learn and develop quickly, building her own caseload and supporting clients with a range of private client matters, including Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Probate, and Estate Administration. Her compassionate approach, combined with her growing legal expertise, enables her to provide clients with practical guidance and exceptional support during what can often be difficult and emotional times.
Outside of work, Isobel enjoys shopping, travelling, and spending quality time with her friends and family.

Jayne Wilcock – Administration & Accounts Assistant
Jayne joined Adlington Law in September 2018, bringing with her valuable experience from the personal injury sector, where she previously worked as an Administrator. Since joining the firm, she has become an integral member of the Administration and Accounts team, known for her exceptional customer service and friendly, welcoming approach. Clients are often greeted by her warm personality, which helps put them at ease from the moment they arrive.
A supportive and dependable team member, Jayne is always willing to assist colleagues and provide help wherever needed. She also serves as one of the firm's Fire Marshals, helping to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors alike.

Eileen Gilgun – Administration & Accounts Assistant
Eileen joined Adlington Law in August 2018, bringing with her more than 40 years of administrative experience gained across a variety of industries. Although new to the legal sector at the time, she had built an impressive and diverse career, with roles spanning marketing, the organisation of trade exhibitions both in the UK and internationally, stock control and logistics management for L'Oréal within UK airports, personal assistant positions, and responsibilities in accounts and office management.
A valued member of the team, Eileen is known for her calm professionalism, attention to detail, and unwavering courtesy. Her quiet efficiency and dependable approach have made her a trusted colleague and a familiar face within the firm.
Outside of work, Eileen enjoys keeping active through aerobics and swimming, exploring new places, baking, walking, and, above all, spending quality time with her grandchildren.
Lisa Dunnett – Administration & Accounts Assistant
Lisa joined the team in August 2021 following a long and successful career with Royal Mail. Since joining the firm, she has become a valued member of the Administration and Accounts team, where she is known for her efficient and organised approach. Lisa plays an important role in ensuring clients receive excellent service and support, while helping to ensure property completions and administrative processes are handled smoothly and promptly.

Rachel Parr – Administration & Accounts Assistant
Rachel joined the firm in 2025 as an Administration Assistant and has quickly become a valued member of the team. Despite having no prior experience in the legal sector, she has embraced every aspect of her role with enthusiasm and determination, rapidly developing her skills and demonstrating her value to both colleagues and clients alike. Aaron Nuttall – Administration Assistant
Aaron joined the firm in 2025 as a Business Administration Apprentice and has quickly become a valued member of the Administration Team. With a positive attitude and a willingness to take on every challenge that comes his way, Aaron has established himself as someone who is dependable, proactive, and always ready to help wherever needed.
His friendly, confident, and personable nature has made him popular with both colleagues and clients alike.
